Hi Alma, amyloid is not a distinct protein or a definite immunogenic structure.

The standard that most people agree on to identify amyloid fibrils is thioflavin T fluorescence.

thanks you for your suggestion. My sample is indeed ThT positive. However since that is natural sample and cnsists beside (probably amyloid fibrils) of another 38 proteins (and we are interesting in characterization of only amyloid protein) I am planing to turn AFM tip into a biosensor and try to detect them directly in heterogeneous sample.

I chose  AB2286 and AB2287 (if someone is interested) antibodies and finger crossed it will work!

On a separate note, we found that some other ThT-like benzothiazole/benzoxazole dyes bind amyloids. Maybe there is a dye out there that can used with AFM.
