I am setting up my first genetics lab, which will be used for training students and conducting research. I grew up on the ABI 9700, and I am sold on the reliability of this product (compared to MJresearch, BioRad, Techne, etc.). I see that LifeTech has replaced this product with the Veriti, which offers faster ramp speeds and a whole lot of glitz (for roughly the same price). Have any users noticed reliability issues with the Veriti? I am suspicious that the glitzy components (touch screen, etc.) will prove more trouble than they are worth. Thanks.
My lab is using Veriti regularly for the past 2 years. It is good - touchscreen is no problem at all. It is a robust and reliable machine.
There was a small technical glitch after using it for about 8 months but it was promptly addressed to by the vendor.
