In today's newspaper, VG, the director of Our envrionmental protection agency, 'Miljødirektoratet', Mr. Audun Rosland, states: "The climate panel does not perform its own research, but reviews scientific literature within climate research and summarizes the status of results. The Fifth Assessment Report published in 2013 and 2014 is based on knowledge from over 30 000 Scientific publications."

However, it is nearly completely impossible to discuss climate issues openly in the Norwegian press.

In the meantime, Per Arne Bjørkum, a Norwegian science philosopher has just published a new edition of his very popular book: "Annerledestenkerne" ("Those who think differently"), 472pp, on 'Universitetsforlaget'. Here he states, on p.361 that "The research establishment often make mistakes. It is not the consensus that decides what is the truth. Furthermore, it is the politicians that have made the consensus situation." And, on  page 403, he writes: "The critique of climate research should not be stopped, but rather be encouraged. It is the researcher's duty to criticise." Scientific criticism and open debate are two essential pillars of modern research.
