Thank you for your response. I have a discussion with a friend, doctor in COVID hospital in Romania and his opinion is that ROMA minorities are more affected by COVID compared to white, in my country.

I would offer my view that all populations in crammed spaces are likley to be more affected due to not performing social spacing, e.g. in Slums of Brazil, or India, in Refugee camps on Greek Islands or on Malta...

That also applies to homes of the elderly...

I can point to two countries: Spain and Romania. In Spain they are abandoned directly. And in Romania, too. Romanian Roma citizens who returned to their country from the EU countries in COVID times, are alienated and excluded from society, as they were also before. For now, there are no statistics .... In fact, the situation of the Roma is the situation of all immigrants and mobile citizens. At the moment, each country counts the number of deceased of its citizens. Unfortunately.

Thank you for your comment. There are many Roma communities affected by Covid19. Many people believe that they have not even been tested, being asymptomatic.

I think the only solution to these problems would be to invest in the education of these ethnic groups. Constraint, administrative or economic, will not solve the problem.

Please detail your answer. Why do you think not? In Romania, the infection rate of the Roma population with COVID19 is high. There is evidence that race and ethnicity can influence the infection.

The general population pattern of Italy is old and this has made the country more susceptible to virus infection.

Dear Silvia, I had a discussion with a colleague, a doctor from the Galati County Hospital, related to the Covid19 incidence in the Roma population. It seems that the incidence is much higher, there is a potential genetic sensitivity. There are some studies in the USA on the Latino and Afro population.

The Canadian government has been collecting data on COVID, race & ethnicity and there are definitely correlations with pre-existing economic disparities. Racialized groups suffered disadvantages before the pandemic which have only been exacerbated by COVID.
