I’m currently drafting a narrative review and would like to include a study‐selection flowchart for transparency. I know the PRISMA flow diagram is the gold standard for systematic reviews, but I’m unsure whether:

PRISMA has been used to write a narrative review. Everything depends on your aims/scope and how you plan on carrying it out. I will add that I have debated with scholars who believe a narrative is inappropriate, but I believe and recommend that a synthesis should be the core feature of a PRISMA study (many authors offer a laundry list of summaries of included articles, which I find generally add little to a reader's understanding and can be difficult to read).
There are many examples of PRISMA + Narrative Review in the extant literature. Keep in mind that the two processes are not mutually exclusive, so one will have to explain how/what will be done. Conduct a literature review of PRISMA and "narrative review," and one will find many examples.
