We know that the PARETO method advises us to focus efforts on 20% of the causes to reduce losses by 80%. Is this principle is valid for combating ARB and ARG.
Pareto analysis can be applied to any problem which include ARB and ARGs. The knowledge of the root cause of any problem will, no doubt, determines the way forward out of the problem. e.g. if we can track the release of antibiotic residues through the wastewater into the environment, then we can prevent the development of resistance by induction (exposure to the residue). We can also limit the exchange of ARGs in the water environment by quorum quenching/prevention of biofilm. Pareto relative to these scenarios shows that each of the factors listed here may take up to 20% potentials to contribute to antibiotic resistance.
