-The general reason is of course the s.c. 'particle-wave duality'.
-The specific reason is of course this: on some time it behaves as a 'particle', at other time as 'wave'.
-Philosophically reasoned: so, not always! This implies (strong or weak in this case is undecided): the nature of 'particle' is not identical to that of 'wave'.

Thank you for the answer. At least for its last paragraph: (a) what do you mean by the underlying nature? Is it not the same as nature itself? (nature is nature); (b) you can mention 'a' particle, but (in my view) never 'a' wave (unless you put it in a 'receptacle', e.g. 'a' glass of water, or in plural: the 'banks' of a river, etc.).
Thank you, Sydney, for your clear answer. However, the term "packet" is somewhat suspect (at least for me): it refers too much to 'a' particle that is 'solid' and accordingly 'definite' and 'certain' whereas 'wave' (please not 'a' wave!) is not.
