After reading a recent (2011) article on cooperation of the default mode network, and the frontal-parietal network in internal trains of thought, it became obvious to me that there were two workspace like hubs, one the Angular Gyrus connected to the frontal-parietal network, and one the supramarginal gyrus connected to the Default Mode Network, this played into my work on weak attention, in that it suggested that if the angular gyrus fedfoward into the supramarginal gyrus via workspace like transmission it would tend to support my assertion that complicit attention was the result of two different networks, working together.
This is a very interesting idea. Some structural and functional connectivity studies seem to support it (Margulies et al., 2009). Do you have any papers on this?
Other than the work on mind wandering and internal trains of thought, no this is a relatively new area for me. An article I read recently might actually make sense of a
three network solution involving the Superior Parietal Lobule and the Dorsal attention Network as well. It makes a hash out of my theory but might be very interesting otherwise.

Nathan Spreng I think. the title is "Intrinsic Architecture underlying the relations among the Default, Dorsal Attention and frontoparietal control networks of the human brain." It is written from the perspective of the internal/external thought systems and so it might not seem germaine.
If the actual architecture is three networks instead of two, the angular gyrus could feed forward into both the other areas but this implies a fourth area that acts as an integrator between the other two areas.
Zoran, Can you cite margulies et al 2009 there are two or three different articles on RG that might fit, or it might not be on RG.
Interesting. one problem with it is the lack of support for a connection between the supramarginal gyrus and the precuneus in Margulies paper.
Part of the problem is of course the lack of specificity in the atlas entries as mentioned by Marguilies, there is support for a connection to the cingulate but not the precuneus according to him, this flies in the face of my integration mechanism unless there is an indirect connection. Which there may very well be.
Right. One area of the precuneus, which is functionally connected part of the 'default' network, connects to inferior parietal, angular gyrus mostly.
