Is the IL-6 secreted by Macrophages or T-cells in GAE? Does the gene polymorphism in IL-6 in the above cells makes the patients susceptible to develop encephalitis by Balamuthia mandrillaris and Acanthamoeba spp.?
It may be epithelial cells but, physical exercise (muscle cells ) and activation of PAR-2 (serine protease from BM or AC, demonstrated in the literature) could be responsible for the increased levels of IL-6 and so can a process of epithelial permeability. This mechanism could be explained because there are so many cases in South America with skin lesion. Regarding your second question, I do not think so. is possible other mechanism.
Thanks for your inputs. I think activation of PAR-2 and increased levels of IL-6 have a major contribution. Other factors like you have mentioned seem to be valid. I had a word with Jacob at flam-2015, will meet you at 2017flam i guess. :)
Yes, I know Jacob worked together. This year it was impossible to be in the FLAM 2015, because I just installed my lab in Lima, please contact me at my email. Attend 2017 . we have much to show for that time. Thanks
