Normally the generation frequency should remain constant for grid integration .However, for standalone mode of operation this is relaxed because loads are mostly frequency insensitive such as lighting and heating. I wish to know whether my contention holds water for practical acceptability or not? Also, what could be acceptable frequency range?

It is 0.5% not 5%. With 5% change grid synchronism cannot be maintained.
I think you can check the droop control of sunny -island inverters for an approximation.
