Manager are born & not made & as such leadership is the acquired natural for the managers to the action which may create an individual personality for bringing the knowledge for the success of the institute .

With this I have some time back explained the similar views which I submit herewith for your perusal

Leadership style is natural & also may acquire with the sincere effort .It is utmost important that one should not copy the style it should be remain in a very nature norm .

With the firm faith & sincere approach from the within may help to recall the sources of intuition & while conveying the message very often ,it may have an reflection on the personality .

This is my personal opinion 

My studies and experiences with various leadership positions and interacting with various types of leaders in different capacities, leads me to my conclusion as explained below.

It would appear that certain people have more of a natural and raw (present despite the lack of training) ability to draw others and get them to follow their lead. So by that definition, I guess you could call it "innate". The caveat, though, is that regardless of their natural ability, it does still need to be honed and trained through study, life, and humility in order for it to be used to a greater effectiveness. So the first part of my answer is that it would appear that certain people do have an innate ability to lead.

The next part of my answer requires a definition of your word "manager"- whether or not you are using "manager" and "leader" interchangably. I tend not to, since I hold the belief that some people can be great managers (effective at task management and processes) without being great leaders (effective at vision casting and rallying people to their cause). If we are seperating leader and manager in the way I have them split, then I would say that situational leadership is not necessarily innate in managers, but it would come more natural to "leaders".

Either way, I believe learning situational leadership as a style can be taught to a person in a leadership or managerial position. Some will just get it quicker and be more effective than others based on their personality and maturity.
