In many countries there have been terrorist attacks against civilians. These operations were carried out by people from different religions and countries. For example, what happened in England.
In your opinion, what are the causes of these terrorist operations and how are they addressed these operations and the elimination of the terrorist ideology and their leaders?
The phrase "religious extremism" describes faith-based actions that are deliberate attempts to cause harm to other people. It includes violent religious movements, routine asceticism that is extreme enough to cause medical concern, beliefs that cause harm through denial of medicine or mental harm through abusive family behaviours. Religious tolerance, multiculturalism and equality are the particular targets of extremists. Their own religion provides guidance that trumps any secular law or any concept of human rights.
http://www.humanreligions.info/extremism.html
Dear Qasim, In my opinion they are not only simple deviant rather they are antisocial. Their behavior arises from misunderstanding of the theory of their religion. I have neever heard about any religion encouraging followers to attack civilians.
I think, these people are fanatic having problem with their social values and self-realization.
Dear Mr. Hussein,
in the meantime, any inter-community violence based on religious radicalism has been caused by the lack of the role of government, religious and educational institutions, and civil society in tackling the influence of radical religious understanding in society; It is necessary to affirm here that religious extremism is not a certain religion's phenomenon, but a general religious phenomenon. Each religion in this world has the phenomenon of extremism in its own community. And what we will do about it is an execution of religious education with a multicultural conception in compulsory education at the earliest time. Second, those religious local NGOs or communities play also important roles in education and prevention. The national goverment must get along together with them, not against them in order to dismantle the widening gap between certain religious communities in the country. Consequently, it is then that gives birth to the theory of economic approach in countering terrorism and religious extremism; regardless of its religion, each individual in this world find itsself always wanting (perpetual) prosperity - legitimately manlike! Until now deradicalization is considered to still prioritize a security approach, compared to welfare. Offer them immediate care which increasingly goes beyond this security point, undoubtedly the integration of religious values will happen by itself. Give them dedication and busyness, because in this way your mind is free of negative thoughts and full of positive attitudes, ready to rejoice with others. The wheels of a fair economy will be eliminating your bad thoughts and various desires. Offering those people many systematic further development oppurtinities in the society can lead them to be their own boss making their own decisions in life without any help of any "leaders". Of course, all these measures are in connection with normative actions.
No hard feelings to anyone, still in closing remarks as food thought, R.A. KARTINI, a very wise woman activist from colonial days in my home country: "Religion does keep us from sin, but how many sins we commit in the name of religion."
Religion is supposed to unite people in love, peace, and unity. It should propagate the virtues of respect and deep care for one another. Therefore, if a religious group or association that advocate the annihilation of particular groups or nationalities because of any reason ceases to be a religion.
Despite the variance in beliefs and teachings, religion should be a strong agent of peace, love, and understanding. It should respect the views of others while seeking for common grounds to serve the higher spirits. If religious doctrine propagates the 'evil' teaching of killing others, hurting them in any way, fanning the fire of war and enmity, it does not qualify in anyway to be a 'religious group' but a deadly group that must be seen as a threat to global peace and unity and must be dealt with accordingly.
Researchers must undertake studies that shed great enlightenment on religion, its makeup, its acceptable precepts and what should be the parameters for enrolment to shed light on what makes 'true' religion while exposing the folly of the deadly extremist groups who label themselves as religions to the ''frail' and easily manipulatable members in our societies.
Thanks
Dickson Adom

Dear Professor Kundu ,
Religious extremist has became a major treat to our region.
But this became also a taboo among most of the academician in our region .

I think the Terrorism has no religion and no homeland. The politics creates the terrorism to achieve their goals without regard to any humanitarian aspect, mercy or tolerance.
Terrorist does not have religion or home land. These are miss guided youth in the name of God or religion or country. Many governments/countries/ organization's/ religious / political leader use terrorist to achieve their goal. Terrorism and terrorists are the part of killing business. Right education, proper guidance, creating awareness about the consequences of their act may reduce this problem. Terrorism and terrorists are killing humanity.
In my opinion, the idea of multicultural states is a weakness of modern democracy. States can and should be multinational. Thus different ethnic groups contribute to the prosperity of the particular state. The culture in the particular state must be one. Thus, all who want to live in this state, regardless of their religion, will have equal rights and obligations. They will observe the same rules and laws. If, for example, I want to live in Germany, I respect German law. If they do not like me and differ from my ideas, then I will not fight them, but I have to go back to my own country where culture is in line with my idea of society.
Is religious extremism or deviation in the behavior of some people or policies leading to terrorism?
Think everything too extreme is no good, everything deviate from mainstream is suspicious that need further verification.
Yes. Intolerance in society is increasing day by day. When there is no space for dissent, extremity rises further producing violent outburst to suppress the voices. In due course of time it becomes terrorism.
Unfortunately, the term “religious extremist” is generally used not to celebrate those who take their faith to the extreme by standing up for the powerless and downtrodden and proclaiming love and hope over fear and division. It is instead used to refer to the most puritanical, misogynist, homophobic, violent and intolerant expressions of religious piety. That does a disservice to the great majority of people of faith who have discovered at their root of their religious traditions the simple affirmation that we must love and serve humanity.

To say that religion has anything to do with terror is similar to say that one will start war to promote peace.
Few people get misguided by religious teaching and start killing people of opposite or even same religion. This follows from many attacks which can be seen worldwide. These misguided personal are threat to peaceful society and become more lethal when governments start sponsoring or shielding such terrorists and similar organisations. Please note that UN do not have comprehensive definition of terrorism. If it suits few countries starts opposing in UN. See many proposals are pending for un approval.
Yes, religious misunderstanding is the major cause for terrorism. People use religious principles to miss guide youth.
Dear All.
Religion is totally in the area of personal and private effects of a person.
Remember the line from one of the Holy books that goes something like this, "Whenever you pray, go into the inner recess of your room and pray to Me in the privacy of your room and only I thy God should know that you pray."
Remember this also, "Wherever two or more gather in my Name, I will... ." This is a coming together based on self volition and not under duress.
What I am trying to point out is that, there is nothing BAD in the nature of a GUN, KNIFE, BULLET, or even a RELIGION. The motives, means and opportunities of their users, (leaders and followers), must be vigilantly considered.
"religious extremism" - There is no problem with religious extremism as long as the person keeps it to himself/herself. Remember the laws, "Physician, Heal Thyself" and "Live and Let Live". Considering these two laws in contemporary societies, it is likely some people are lawless.
"deviation in the behavior of some people" - Deviations in a person's behavior is really no threat as long as the person is not running around the street assaulting children, girls, ladies, women or dangerously attacking the men-folk generally.
So, where are the problems. They fall in the next two.
"policies" - Always be mindful of the motives policies from sectional bodies before partaking of their policies. When their followings become a majority, it is easy to use the weapon of "terrorism" to handle the minority. Their reason: it is for the good of the majority. We should not get agitated by the word "terrorism"; we just consider the word "terror" and we will be able to see its many faces.
So, "religious extremism" and "deviation in the behavior of some people" are simply the channels through which "terrorism" are dealt out to those whose chose to stay neutral to or against some "policies".
Sincere regards.
Religious extremism could be personal also. Terrorism and killings are social actions. They show failure of understanding of religion. No religion teaches killings. It would teach survival and growth. A stretched illogical outcome is terrorism against others. From a social view it is failure of coexistence.
When reason and debate is not happening. Terrorism is breeding.
Religious extremism main cause of terrorism, according to report
Since 2001 religious extremism has overtaken national separatism to become the main driver of terrorist attacks around the world, according to the Global Terrorism Index
Religious extremism has become the main driver of terrorism in recent years, according to this year’s Global Terrorism Index.
The report recorded 18,000 deaths in 2013, a rise of 60% on the previous year. The majority (66%) of these were attributable to just four groups: Islamic State(Isis) in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram in Nigeria, the Taliban in Afghanistan and al-Qaida.
Overall there has been a fivefold increase in deaths from terrorism since the 9/11 suicide attacks.

Dear Professor Dickson Adam,
I support your ideal. In our country , politician make use of religious as the tool to control innocent people , under the name of unity of religious , numerous policies have implementing against other ethnic group.
The main intention is political based , by just to divide difference race by religious .
This is the most troublesome issue facing by us at the moment . We have no solution to it .

Dear @Qasim, thanks for sharing the question. I do agree with you. My personal opinion is that terrorism has no religion, has no nation... Religion can not be a major driver of terrorism!
See what is public opinion. The question was Does religion cause terrorism?
53% say YES!

Good question!
I also agree that terrorism has no religion, at least, those normally accepted by today's society and that preach peace and harmony among nations.

How religious extremism changed the face of terrorism
By ALON BURSTEIN
Academics studying religiously motivated terrorism suggest that, unlike secular terror organisations, religious groups do not see themselves as engaged in an earthly conflict against an enemy that has committed some historic wrong. Rather, they see themselves as soldiers in the army of God, fighting against ‘His’ enemies as part of a larger cosmic, eternal battle of good against evil. Two main outcomes of this crucial difference are predicted in the literature: 1) religious groups will tend to carry out deadlier, more extreme acts of violence as they are trying to destroy a demonic enemy rather than convince their earthly enemy to do something; and 2) religious groups will not negotiate or accept anything less than total victory, as their success has been prophesised by God Himself. How far are these theoretical predictions borne out by facts on the ground?
At first glance, both prophesies appear accurate. The most extreme terrorist attacks, including 9/11, chemical terrorism in Tokyo, and the lion's share of suicide attacks over the past 45 years, have been committed by groups guided by a religiously inspired ideology. In addition, these attacks are often not accompanied by a coherent list of demands from the group's enemy, and it could be suggested that their aim is more to generally lash out against that enemy, or in some cases bring about a prophesised Armageddon. Regarding the absolutism of violent religious extremist groups, the predictions also seem to have merit as, compared to the secular examples of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Colombian FARC, or the Kurdish PKK, religious terror groups tend to avoid negotiation with the enemy of God.

Gap Analysis-Theory of Religious Deviation .
By TAHIR MAHMOOD
Almost all religions in the history of mankind deviate from its pure divine structure to deviated shapes, No doubt religion is one of great enlightening of human awareness in its divine form. This deviation is described as one gap out of 200 gaps in my book (under publication Gap Analysis- counter terrorism, extremism and radicalisation) and is further source of my new theory of Deviation of religions. The under given is short extract from my book and detailed version will be available in my academic publication, “Tahir theory of deviation of religions “in near future. I hope the followers can evaluate their own belief and Governments can understand , How to fill this gap of knowledge in policy making

Religion is used many times as a pretext to further political ends or as a rationale for oppression and violence. The human control engages emmotional and faith.
Religious extremism can exist without violence of terrorism in the far right. Terrorism of the far left has occurred without religious motives. Society must separate the acts of terrorism from the excuses it offers. The far left violence was isolated and rejected. It died of old age. The same must occur for violence of the far right. The excuses it offers must be rejected.
Both are leads to the terrorism but I can add the Lack of tolerance, the false principles of religion, And extreme upbringing
All these factors lead to extremism and thus to terrorism
Dear @Arben, Srebrenica is very big massacre which was committed by people who were convicted in The Hague Tribunal for genocide. That sad story should not be used to accuse Serbian orthodox Christians! You do not have good intention at all! That was not the case of religious extremism.
My deep condolences to the families of all the victims, of all the nations, all religions...
The war in ex-Yugoslavia was a war of money and power as the wars in Syria and Iraq etc...
I do absolutelly agree dear @Vassilis. It is almost always about money and power.
Dear Ljubomir, Balkans will be again a site of conflict between the new powers. In exemple, Greece is officially under occupation, FMI and Germany, the system is set up so to obtain a complete control. Without independence and democracy, the only system that functions is the corruption and, "religion" can easily put the fire. Albania, Kosovo, Turkey, Cyprus... Austria closed the frontiers with Italy....what the destiny for the South?
This is Democracy in Europe and the world....and we need to change this system.
All extremes are dangerous! And religion should unite people and not put them in confrontation. The perception we have is that when there are no economic interests that allow gains, the great powers do not interfere in favor of saving the people.
Dear All.
There is a saying I found on the notice board in a friend's office back in 2007. This friend happens to be an architect. The saying goes thus:
"Do NOT Lay Claim To Righteousness Until You Have Been Tested."
Irrespective of all the contributions that may come on this thread, the bottom-line is that the topic is about:
> Intolerance - You cannot tolerate the presence of others or their views;
> Control - You now need to find every means to remove them;
> Power - But you discover that you become very powerful having money
> Money - And with money, religion, politics, school all are a means to your end.
> Greed - More money, more power, more control, more intolerance.
After my first contribution on this thread on July 3, I noticed that my followers immediately dropped from 91 to 89. It is really interesting.
It is said that: You can fool some people all the time; You can fool all the people for some time; But you cannot fool all the people all the time. The first character I look for in any person claiming to be a researcher is the ability to remain neutral and objective in all activities. Lacking these abilities brings nothing but distorted views.
Whatever the horror that might have gone on in the past has nothing to do with any religion or a person behavior patterns. The goodness of a religion and the weakness in behavior deformation are the channels used by ill motivated person posing as loyalist to whatever.
Sincere regards.

It depends on the the culture and the level of information of the community and the person itself
No country is safe from extremism. All religions have the problem of followers who take to extreme the teachings of the belief. It is not a Muslim thing of a Christian thing, it is a teaching thing.
I have seen even in the teaching of science the same behavior. Students are told that the science is correct and complete even when it is based on theory. This leads to the understanding that these things should be thought of as infallible. When we start by thinking that we are correct in thinking things that are not true of real then we have a percent of the people that will be radicalized to think it is their mission to make things happen or to protect what they think is true....
We as a world culture have to stop teaching with such vigor that people believe they are justified in behaviors up to and including killing people that do not think the way they do. Teaching should always be showing the way and letting the student find the correct path to find the answer. When we preach from the chalk board or the pulpit to only think in one way, we stop the learning and start the radicalization of students.
Anyone that thinks they are so correct as to be allowed to hurt others is a danger to the existence of society.
What brought us into the dark ages was the thought that understanding only comes from "belief". This is the blindly believe and you will be saved argument. What raised us up from the dark ages into the enlightenment was the thought that only through understanding can one belief. in other words if you understand reality your belief will be real.
The author James Burk pointed this out in his book on how the world changes with changes in perspective. We have moved backwards in time to the place where we are looking at another dark ages. Our thoughts are not based in reality but in belief systems that were meant to help us survive thousands of years ago. Today we still believe in the supernatural but we have been told that science is magic and therefore our ancient religions are better than finding the truth. Quantum Mechanics is a great example of this with our inability to predict location and speed at the same time. It seems like magic but what it really is, is a different way to look at the Universe, not magic. If I have the smallest thing in the Universe I can not measure it without affecting it in major ways. That is all QM is saying.... and yet it is seen a somehow defying logic.. It is perfectly logical. If I smash an ant with a 16 pound sledge hammer I will be able to pinpoint its exact location but there is no way for me to get the speed of the ant before I stopped its movement to measure that.
Religions were meant to explain things we could not understand thousands of years ago. Today we have thousands of times more understanding yet these same religions have not truly modernizes to reality yet we follow blindly to the end of time. We are not the center of the Universe. We are not Gods. We are however influenced by the promise of that understanding and religions of all kind give use what we need when we do not understand.
Religions, political movements, and science all are to blame for the terrorism.
Logic and reason were lost when the Greek and Roman empires fell. We have never recovered from the lose of logic and reason.. Mind you the empires of the past were not places where human rights were an issue. They were only the place where we learned to think beyond our belief to reality.

I fully endorse the view expressed by Vipan Kakkar. In fact, terrorism is the result of a mixture of factors you have enumerated and many neglected ones. No religion teaches killing innocent people, so no religion, especially which preaches love and forgiveness teaches to violently occupy other countries and make them colonies and brutally extract revenue and exploit them, even not let the natives produce food but commercial crops for factories in the colonisers’ countries, causing deaths of millions due to food shortages. In the same vein, no religion teaches invading other countries by creating false excuses and kill thousands of innocent children; women and elderly only topple governments to impose governments of their choice. All actions are rationalised in different ways. Some, misinterpret religion for their deviant behaviour, some take to arms due to atrocities which are beyond their limit of tolerance, especially among communities which have a keen sense of justice. International policies and atrocities of other communities make them resist violently. The terrorists are not born, they are the product of the injustices and atrocities meted out them. Of course, they may justify their behaviour misinterpretation for larger following in their community.
I don't know how people justify killing of, for example, Indian students and workers by so-called natives of the US supposedly because they take the jobs of natives. Or for that matter, how the killing of a black boy with a toy gun by police personnel (who was left scot-free) is justified. Whether it is religious extremism or hate towards others or something else, to me all such violent acts including those by so-called “terrorists” are heinous crimes against humanity.
The main factors that correlate with terrorism are hostility between different ethnic or religious groups; state-sponsored violence and human rights abuses leading to conflict or violent crime. Religious ideology now a day playing a part in global terrorism apart from social, political, and geopolitical factors. Religious extremism, in recent years, has become the main driver of terrorism. The central to the emergence of terrorism is the concept of totalism which can be thought of as an exaggerated form of something that exists within each religion – the tendency to see on religion as wholly good and others as wholly bad.
Religious extremism is now the main driving force of terrorism worldwide!
The report points out that religious ideology wasn’t the only motivation for terrorism, and notes that many Muslim-majority countries – the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar – don’t have a problem. It identifies three main factors that correlate with terrorism. These are hostility between different ethnic or religious groups; state-sponsored violence such as extrajudicial killings and other human rights abuses; and high levels of violence in general, such as conflict or violent crime. This demonstrates that “social, political, and geopolitical” factors play a part, as well as religious ideology...

Dear @YOGESH CHANDRA TRIPATHI,
Great contribution! I agree with you and a concern that we all have is that this continues to spread across all continents, as has already occurred.
Dear @Ljubomir,
I agree with you, such factors are also important for the context. The question that is possible: is there a solution and who can take on a task?
My best regards!
No religion invite people to kill innocent people. Islam for example comes from peace and never told people in Quran to kill people for no reasons. If some groups killing innocent people that is far from the core of Islam.

Terrorism is a multi-factorial disease comes basically from racism that makes people under racism with little or no faith do terrorism against the owners of racism disease. Instead they make racism a challenge to improve themselves and their countries they recycle racism into terrorism.
As I am a scholar Muslim I do not believe in racism and terrorism and consider them diseases.
God save this world
Aly R Abdel-Moemin,
Thank you for your insight. Everyone needs to stand up against racism and terrorism. It is not just one persons job but all of us need to do our part.
All true religions are valid as ways of life. Any religions that professes hate, or dominance over others will end up in radicalism. This includes Christianity. I have seen radical Christians kill people in the USA calling it religion but that is just as false as any radicalism.
All human live is sacred.
Many religions profess that they are the best way to live and this is not a problem. When the best becomes the only way to live is when people start thinking that it is their duty to make others believe what they believe. The seed of radicalism is planted in subtle but meaningful changes in what the leaders of these religions profess.
We live in the year of 2017 not 2017 BCE
George Van Hoesen
@Aly R Abdel-Moemin,
I appreciate your viewpoint and agree with it.
Yes. Ice age floods earthquakes and other natural calamity has not killed humans as done in the name of religion and religious terrorism. When policies are mixed with religion huge damages are caused to mankind.
Yes, it is 100% true. But unfortunately it is result of misunderstanding or not understanding religion properly. Many religious leaders, politicians , policy makers and country heads use religion to fulfill their selfish interest. They miss guide youth in the name of religion.
Fine resource: Religious extremism: the good, the bad, and the deadly !
This paper challenges conventional views of violent religious extremism, particularly those that emphasize militant theology. We offer an alternative analysis that helps explain the persistent demand for religion, the different types of religious that naturally arise, and the special attributes of the “sectarian” type. Sects are adept at producing club goods – both spiritual and material. Where governments and economies function poorly, sects often become major suppliers of social services, political action, and coercive force. Their success as providers is much more due to the advantages of their organizational structure than it is to their theology. Religious militancy is most effectively controlled through a combination of policies that raise the direct costs of violence, foster religious competition, improve social services, and encourage private enterprise...

Religion in the workplace can bring up some of the most difficult issues employers have to face. Resolving these issues requires understanding the law and balancing the business's needs with an employee's desire to practice his or her religion.
One of the most contentious conflicts is between an employee's desire to take time off and the potential reduction in productivity and profitability. Let's assume there's no collective bargaining agreement that expressly delineates the rights of the employer and employee regarding this subject. If such an agreement exists, its provisions will govern any dispute.
Jeffrey Steinberger
Extremism is the result of miss interpretation and misunderstanding of religion, policies and books. Miss guided and selfish leaders, religious teachers and politicians are promoting extremism to achieve personal goals.
Iqbal,
Thank you for saying it out loud. To many people stay silent when we all should be screaming about the abuses of leaders. It does not matter what your political or religious beliefs are because non of them should be allowing extremism.....
I think that as citizens of the world we should work to insure that integrity and honesty in the people we elect is the most important thing. Do not let them for even one time hide something or an agenda that is different from what they say in public.
We have a long way to go when it comes to this especially in the USA where I live. Politicians need to step back from agendas and work on solving problems that affect all of us. No one cares what or who you pray to..... or if you believe at all. If this is the case it will all be judged in the after life by one that understands it all of there is such a thing.
I call myself a Christian only because I like the teachings of a person called Christ not the people that try to bend the words to make them what they are not. He only talked about love, acceptance, understanding, and forgiveness. Yes we have to protect society from people that would hurt society but not by eliminating them. All have room to believe in what makes them happy but not to dictate to others what should make them happy as well.
So in a nut shell politics leads to extremism when we elect people that are not honest and accepting.
Hi again George,
Interesting comment as ever but try this.
Democratically elected leaders only deal with the symptoms of problems as we would oust them (and worse) if they attempted to actually deal with the actual problem and take pro-active measures based on what their natural intelligence and what the intelligence community told them.
Politics is us! The but stops with us.
The problem is religion and how it is, and hence religious people are manipulated by their systems. It's not good enough to be a sheep!?
So when we have failing democracies and out of control religion 'inspired' antics the result is terrorism and paralysis.
In a multicultural state all religions need to be under the control of the state and the state needs to understand how to control them. But...we have to sign up to that because it's in everyones interests.
It follows that:
States run by religious ideology should have a different interface with states run as democracies.
People with allegiance to religion over state should have a different form of citizenship if resident in a democracy and vice versa.
This is not discrimination, it's dealing with the problem in a way that's understandable. If there is understanding there is less perceived oppression. Both conditions are respected in a way that's understandable and enforceable. Would a western population vote for this? If not stop blaming the leaders?
John,
I do not think it is that simple. Our belief in higher powers is the problem as you said but the reason is that everyone thinks that their own higher power gives them rule over the others that have different powers.
Nothing could be further from the truth. If there is a higher power or at least order to the Universe then we are all talking about the same thing. We as people want to think of this power as like us because we are narcissistic. The fact of the matter is that if there is a higher power they could not and would not look or be like us.
There is a higher order to the Universe and I think I talked about this before and it is scientifically provable. If it were not we could not be here.
Not interested in that 'higher power' stuff to be honest. It's just multicultural democracy? It you don't sign up to that i.e. the democratic state controls religions and their activities then you are actually a subversive? We went through all that in the UK and control from Rome some time ago but have forgotten the lessons. They apply to all religions or should do. Religions operating in a multicultural democracy that allow subversive activity that counters multi cultural democracy should be shut down like any extremist organisation. That includes Christian far right stuff. If people what to live in a religiously controlled state then go and live in one?
John,
I think you are right. If you want to live in a religious state then do it but stay away from the free ones in the states where you can believe as you choose or not. Also Christians are sometimes even worst than others about the righteous indignation.
I think that you misunderstand my comments on the order in the Universe.. It is not a god it is the way things work. There is an equivalence that science has missed that is the balance between Entropy which drives things apart and Gravity which holds things together. We live in the balance between these two things and this creates this order in the Universe that we see as galaxies, stars, planets and life. It is what ever someone wants to call it but, god is the thing that people think of when you talk about it.
The infamous policy of "divide and rule"initiates infernecine conflicts to distract people's attention from the illicit enrichment. To be a terrorist means to be sold for a certain sum, because of poverty, unemployment, and hunger. Besides, atrocities in violation of human rights reached unprecedented levels, which cause prevalence of mental health issues, such as affective disorders. It's a shameful, disgusting, and horrible symptom of extreme schizophrenic paranoia.Society raises idiots.
Good approach!
Promoting Pluralism In Countering Violent Extremism: A View from Civil Society!
We will also talk about how media—both mainstream and social—have become tools of propagating this virulent idea and attraction that has not only found resonance among young Muslim recruits but also in individuals, groups and armies like Anders Behring Breivik, the Caucasian Norwegian far-right terrorist who committed the 2011 Norway attacks killing 92 people by detonating a van bomb and who shot mostly young students in a summer camp; or the American Timothy McVeigh who in April 1995 exploded a truck bomb blasting a federal building in Oklahoma killing more than 168 people which was the worst terrorist attack on US soil before 9-11; or the Burmese Tatmadaw who have launched a virtual pogrom in Rakhine state in Myanmar against the Rohingya people killing hundreds and displacing more than 400 thousand people after elements from the Arakan Rohingya Salavation Army (ARSA) attacked and killed more than a dozen soldiers...

Employees have had more success in cases involving special leave to observe holy days or attend religious activities that weren't regular and frequent. This is because the occasional religious observance doesn't fundamentally alter the employee's basic work schedule.
There will be various reasons for someone become a terrorist. One thing is clear: today’s form of terrorism has substantially different characteristics from those of traditional (such as practised by the IRA, RAF, ETA, etc.). It is less ideological and less political, directed against singular targets; and is more indiscriminate, cross-border, by seeking reach as many people as possible (innocent victimes, for the most part; traditional terrorism seeks to avoid “collateral damage”, even if this would happen) and creating a climate of terror wich affects people’s normal daily life. I do not believe that living conditions (population that is marginalized, etc.) are the main reason: if that were the case, we would then have hundreds of millions of terrorists worldwide, which is not the case. Probably, we are dealing with people that already have “natural tendency” towards violence. These days, it is possible to become a terrorist simply by the information on the internet (also has its hazards, don’t you think?), and in television reports. It should be noted that has been frequently referred that many prepetrators of recent terrorist acts have, even before that, a long “common” criminality history. The background of many “traditional” terrorists was completely unrelated with criminality (journalists – as Ulrike Meinhof (RAF/Baader-Meinhof, Germany), sociologist/philosopher as Antonio Negri (Red Brigades, Italy) , students and teachers, radicalized politicians).
As Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) said: "Violence is last refuge of incompetent people"
Religion is just one of the elements that pushes someone to terrorist action. Any religion that denies the value and humanity of others is an extremist religion.
The basic cause people dont have the sense of textual and human authorities who are functioning in the religion. They don't know at broader level how to managed with that to create a peaceful society. The second cause is the literature you teach to the people matters a lot. Usually, it is a trend to take out the hatred text and that text become authority and people cant challenge that text and that text and its interpretation in the contemporary times creates challenges.
