In general, rapid tests (in pathogen detection) have a lower sensitivity than PCR.
In an acute phase of the disease to use of the rapid test is a good choise (faster, cheaper, high amount of antigen in the sample). In a case of carriage, the PCR has higher sensitivity value.
Hi, if you want to screen, maybe you need to do less costly test first such as serological test for antibodies to rotavirus, then you can select those samples with higher titre and then use more expensive diagnostic test such as PCR to detect the genes. Best of grace
