for aerosol generating procedures and intubatoons where the risk of exposure to large viral load is there it’s better to take full precaution otherwise N95 with a eye wear or face shield looks sufficient
it is a survey taken from healthcare workers on availability and use of personal protective equipment caring for COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) can markedly reduce the infection risk associated with caring for COVID-19 patients [6,7]. While there is little evidence to which PPE offers the best protection, training in donning and doffing, simulation and face to face instructions are likely beneficial.
It is necessary to wear ppe ( mask, gloves , face shield or goggles, cap, coverall) and ensure proper doffing not only for safety of ourselves but also our medical colleagues.
One issue I feel however which needs evidence is ...can we wear a gown instead of the thick jumpsuit. It can improve our performance and efficiency
There is enough evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is has airborne transmission especially during indoor. Following airborne transmission precautions N95, face shield, gown and gloves is recommended.
