Alzheimer patients who have all their vascular risk factors well-managed have been shown to decline less rapidly than those who do not keep their hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia under good control (Deschaintre et al, Neurology 2009;73 (9): 674-680).
Thanks for an interesting question. As many of our colleagues has discussed that dyslipidemia is a modifiable risk factor in the development of dementia and cardiovascular diseases. Mr Sedat has already provided the details of few articles.
