Flower Bulbs are originally situated in the Near East like Turkey u.a. - they are adapted to hot summers and wet winters / springs.
What are the most important thing to ensure that these flower bulbs are perennial and flower each year after another:
- N nutrition
- K nutrition
- P nutrition
- good watering in winter
- good watering in spring
- non-watering in summer
- hot summers
- low temperature in autumn
- low temperature in winter
- rising temperature in spring
- planted not to deep
- planted not to high
- less concurrence through weeds in spring
- less condurrence through weeds in summer
- non shade in spring / direct sun
- lifted after wilt + replanted in autumn (avoid too much humidity in summer)

Thanks a lot Chinaza Godswill Awuchi, for that great link! Yes, I have a paper of "Mikiyo Yamane: Nitrogen nutritional studies with flower-bulb crops " she recommends a pause within nutrition, too - to ensure best propagation rates and best quality of bulbs.
The fact of important P propagation in deeper soil - because of immobility of P in soil - is very interesting - going along with a pH of 6 - 7.
I wonder why https://web.extension.illinois.edu/bulbs/planting.cfm is using lime to adjust the pH - as I learned as a gardener we used chalk or peat / pH lowering fertilizers to higher or to lower the pH. - seems that he intends to use only natural / non-chemical and non-destroying-the-environmental-the-moors-materials.
And yes - ;-))) it was a great joke, as my lovely-sister, who never knew about gardening but is excellent IT specialist - intends to plant the buds rootplate upwards - so it is very good to write down the correct orientation LOL ;-)))

Due to climatic change - premature growth of bulbs in autumn and winter is an issue in southern Germany / Nürnberg, too.
Best breeders and gardeners for Tulips seem to be the Dutch but also in Poland, Japan and South Africa. I wonder why Turkish and Russian gardeners do not breed Tulips due to their origin in these countries. - Maybe we will see a great revival for Turkish and Russian agronomists in these topic.
The tipp not to delay planting the bulbs after purchase is quite good - I have to mention good suppliers with optimal storage conditions from grower to shelfdesk. And yes, for my first experiment I was also late - I planted end of October / start of November. Some of the bulbs I had on humid sand before, but some of the roots broke by planting these pre-cultivated hyacinths. So I think it is more practicable to plant them without pre-cultivation.
My experiment works with gravel substrate mixed with sandy soil - so it should work well with natural irrigation in spring - the water should come fast to the deeply planted tulips.
I never saw a special bulb-food fertilizer - I have to search for that and check about N - P - K rates and release of them over the time (strong or weak release control of N-P-K, it could even be the case that the coverage of the fertilizer grains release N well, holds back P and releases K in a slower mood...)
If compost is added annuarly as the one and only fertilizer, it should be a very P-based nutrition due to -maybe - washout of K and even N from the compost.
Bonemeal as fertilizer in spring is also N/P7K = 3,5/18/7,8 % - see amazon.de Vitax-Ltd-Knochenmehl-Dünger-10-Kg.
