The Supramarginal Gyrus, is associated with inner trains of thought, and with language formation. The superior parietal Lobule with external trains of thought, and somatosensory processing. This brings me to question whether the use of language is based mostly on inner trains of thought?

It isn't necessary at all that they are in one line. It isn't
necessary either that they form a grammatical sound sentence.
Preparing sentences in our working memory is part of our
general symbol manipulation system.

Yes Joachim, that is true, but the working memory seems split between inner and outer trains of thought, the inner trains of thought are mediated by the Default Mode Network, I am just asking if it is involved in all language use or not.
I would suggest that the issue is whether there is an isomorphic relation between neural processing of language and how we use natural language. Most of the research I'm familiar with indicates that natural language is primarily phatic. If that's the case, it might be difficult to support a claim that NL is related to trains of thought unless one were to propose that phatic discourse requires significant thought to negotiate social relations.
