Just curious to know if "L-DOPA methyl ester" is a naturally occurring compound? Is it reported in a metabolome / metabolite of any biological system?
The paper http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6704979 says that it is a natural compound but in which system?

L-dopa methyl ester is not a naturally occurring molecule. In the abstract, it says "neutral" and not "natural". Hope this helps.

I agree with Praveen PN Rao. Methoxy derivatives can be formed by COMT, but methyl esther is very unlikely, In turn, most of dopa in vivo is decarboxylated to dopamine by the amnio acid aromatic decarboxylase, so that the methyl ester is not possible
