It has become far too common for researcher to refer to their study as "current study". That is, one may say "In the current study, it was established that ........." while referring to the work they are reporting on. Why call it "current study"? I think this is a wrong and misleading application of the term. At any given time there are so many current studies and hence using "current study" may not directly refer to one's work. Use of the term "this study" is clear and directly refers to one's work without any confusion or ambiguity. 🤔🤔
