I am conducting a vignette-based quasi-experiment. I understand that the respondents in each group should not be heterogeneous. Can I use stratified randomization to include similar numbers of undergraduate and executive respondents across all groups (vignettes)? Does it still pose problems with respect to heterogeneity across groups?

If the goal of your study is to compare the responses of undergraduates and executives, then the design you suggest makes sense. But that does leave the question of whether using those two groups generates a meaningful comparison.
