I have a research in education , but the problem is that I have some limitations to predetermine two groups , a control group and experiment group . should I change my research due to this limitations.
Researchers do that all the time. It's called citing. As others have pointed out, it is important to acknowledge the work of those you are citing. You do so with an appropriate citation. If you don't, it is called plagiarism. Here's a very useful link to help you cite appropriately: https://www.citationmachine.net/apa
Perhaps your questions was about using someone else's instrument (such as a questionnaire)? It is perfectly fine to do so, but appropriately citing your sources is also important.
In fact, a lot of research would benefit from being replicated. Replication studies are studies that use an already existing methodology and / or instrument in another context to test hypotheses. For instance, imagine someone used a questionnaire to investigate teachers' perception of grammar in China. You might in turn want to check if, in your contry, the results would be similar / different. You'd then use the same instrument / methodology.
If you're interested in replicating an existing study, you might want to check the following volume:
Porte, G. K., & McManus, K. (2019). Doing replication research in applied linguistics. Routledge.
Zeashan H. Khan , Bhupendra Desai , Zhihao Liu Eloy Romero Muñoz
thank you so much.
I twisted my study a lit bit towards qualitative because there are many experimental studies about my topic and I have only 5 months to complete my research . I will investigate the attitudes of students towards an app in English classroom .I would like you guys to suggest a plan that I can follow because I feel overwhelmed . here is my research questions :
what is the attitudes of students towards the app?
how can the app be implemented in English classroom ?
for the instruments I will introduce the app in a classroom ,then I will a questionnaire to get data .
Have you already chosen an instrument to measure the students' attitudes?
May I suggest using Davis' (1989) Technology Acceptance Model?
