I am wondering if it is possible to use the profile of microorganisms for traceability of certain crops. Anyone here works with the same studies? I am having a hard time looking for suitable references. I would really appreciate your insights on this topic. Thank you.
With my experience , i can say , it is doubtful. There is hardly any published evidence to ratify this intelligently placed question. There are some crops like litchi harbors good proliferation of AMswithin rhizopshere.... as an example. But , if want to know the histroy of crop based on rhizopshere microbiome , atleast with culture dependent microbes , it seems difficult to arrive any such conclusion . However , metagenomics could be helpful to get some clues , provided we know nature and properties of rhizodeposition of different crops. It will be an interesting exercise to study the relationship between properties of rhiz odeposition and diversity in microbial communities of different crops , either within rhizsophere or within endosphere.

This is very helpful insight, Sir. We have the same concern because it is really hard to come up with a conclusion and the available published papers are scarce. In relation to metagenomic analysis, that's actually the proposal that we want to make, we want to analyze the microbiome profiles of a specific crop from different locations using metagenomic approach. So this is possible if we will also determine the rhizodeposition in the rhizosphere? Thank you.@
Its a strong posobility that it could throw some valid reasons , why a particular microbial community or even a microbial species gets an upsurge in population under ceratin crop rhizosphere , considering the fact that very crop rhizosphere recruits a particular microbial community , depending upon their metabolism. How does a root operate this function , surely its a choice of that root , and what triggers that natural selection , surely must be the composition root secretions triggering the multiplication one microbial community over others...this intricacy is to be decoded with respect to crop -soil-root-microbe interaction
