Is it possible to use Mg/Ca ratio in fresh water bivalves(unionidae) as a temperature proxy?

Currently I am working on trace elemental geochemistry of freshwater bivalves(unionidae), I am having doubt that can we able to use Mg/Ca ratio as a temperature proxy, if any one who worked on that help me.
