Commercially available conjugated dextrans are very expensive. I have access to some different MW dextrans and different Alexa-Fluor's so it would be much easier if I could synthesise the conjugate myself. However, I cannot seem to find a protocol. Any help would be greatly appreciated?

10 kDa alexa fluor labelled dextran from life technologies is cheaper than buying Alexafluor-reactive dye and dextran and labeling it, and purifying it. Labeling will be economical in the case of antibody or protein labeling if you have access to approx 2mg protein (although microscale lebeling is possible).
