Is it possible to simulate oxidized cysteine with a substitute amino acid?

I am currently exploring the effect of post-translational modifications (PTMs) on the activity of ABA receptors (PYR/PYL/RCAR) in Arabidopsis, with a specific emphasis on the presence of cysteine or tyrosine residues within the protein structure. Previous research has shown that cysteine-to-serine substitution can effectively mimic a reduced state of cysteine. However, I have yet to encounter any literature that utilizes substitution to simulate an oxidized state. I am seeking suggestions or recommendations from any individuals who may have insights on the matter.

Oxidation of cysteine's sulfhydryl leads to sulfinic or sulfonic acid (cysteine sulfinic acid or cysteic acid, respectively), so I suppose the closest analog among canonical amino acids would be aspartic acid. Otherwise, you would have to introduce a non-canonical amino acid, which would be a much more complicated endeavor than site-directed mutagenesis.
