It is believed that the anammox bacteria can not be pure cultured due to the extremely low growth rate. However the flow cytometry technology can actively separate and isolate particles having specified properties. Based on that, seperating the anammox bacteria from other bacteria seems feasible. So...has anyone or group already tried that? Is there any problem of applying this technology to pure-culture the anammox bacteria?
