Manual examination shows a small and smooth ovaries; without any suspicious structure! the owner assures that he injected the cow with a hormone to induce heat! can it be the effects of synthetic estradiol !
Did the owner inject oestradiol benzoate or oestradiol valerate as part of the induction? If yes how much. That could cause oestrous behaviour without follicle structures on the ovaries. Did you scan the ovaries?
It is not possible to know what type of estradiol or the dose injected! and the diagnosis was made only by rectal palpation, the ovaries were smooth, and the cow was in heat all the time. However, after the injection of 20mg of dexamethazone, on the day of examination, the cow became in estrus again after 22 days.
This makes me wonder if there was some issue with adrenal steroidogenesis that led to estrogen biosynthesis. Of course if the farmer injected an estrogen, then the cow would have shown heat even if she had no ovaries.
