I want to extract plant materials and I target ethyl estate fraction. I usually extract materials first with methanol 80% then dissolve the crude in water and fractioned in separator funnel sequentially starting with hexane then dichloromethane and finally get ethyl estate fraction. So, can I obtain the ethyl estate fraction directly by maceration the plant materials?

I usually do mine by sequential extraction by first defatting the plant sample with hexane and then extract with ethyl acetate. You may also extract with dichloromenthane after defatting before ethyl acetate extraction.

Yes, that what I usually do. But, is there anyone know that direct ethyl acetate extracts have the same compound as ethyl acetate fraction?
