At high temperature, Hafnia coating over a substrate act as a Thermal Barrier Coating. It is already proven to coat few microns of Hafnia coating using Soll-gel process. But, is it possible to achieve thick coating in the order of 50 microns over the substrate by carrying out multiple dip coating (Sol-gel) process? Does this process induce huge residual stress on the coating? Does the process is capable of producing porous free dense coating? can anyone comment on the problems needed to be addressed during this process?
