I need to measure the surface area of the polymer film (PTFE, PET, 50 um thickness) with micro/nano roughness on the surface (not porous). Is it possible through BET analysis? What is the best way to calculate the micro/nano structured polymer film? Thanks.

it not possible to measure surface area of all the polymer film using BET analysis except few.
You may measure but the window to that is very limited. Other good method is to go for AFM for surface roughness measurements.

Dear Omkar S. Kushwaha . Thank you for your recommendation. I have tried the AFM also. For nano structures it works, but for micro-structures (roughness size ~ 10 um) the scan area is not enough. I am not sure whether the AFM device limitation or not.

Surface area by gas adsorption and BET calculation might be possible using krypton at 77K (LN2 temperature) depending on what the true surface area is and how much material is able to be placed in the sample cell. Materials do not have to be porous to be measurable by gas adsorption. Please message me and I can put you in touch with my colleagues in Korea.
