I have copper nanoparticles on a SnO2 thin film. By heating, is it possible to convert Cu to CuO? if so, at what temperature and conditions?
It is certainly possible, as Cu oxidizes with relative easy in the presence of oxygen. In order to obtain nano particles, one method would be laser irradiation with ns, ps or fs pulses. The shorter the pulse width, the smaller the nanoparticles. Ideally, fs laser irradiation should enable the preparation of several nm size CuO particles in air. There are numerous literature reports related to this issue.

unfortunately i don't have any femto or pico second laser.so if i heating the cu nanoparticles in presence of oxygen , have i cuo nanoparticles? Or particles size would be larger than several nanometer?
And in what temperature cu oxidized?

It is possible to oxidize copper nanoparticles at high temperature but are you interested in forming CuO specifically. Is Cu2O okay?
I don't know the conditions for both the phases but I think heating your Cu nanoparticles at lower temperatures (~ 300 C) and atmospheric conditions Cu2O nanoparticles may form. CuO may need higher temperatures.
Actually CuO forms at lower temperatures than Cu2O, which forms above 900ºC or so, if I recall from studies we performed many years ago. In fact, there are several publications regarding the formation of Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 where we report on its formation scheme using a polymer matrix method. We found that a reduction of Cu took place just above 400ºC, with oxidation afterwards to CuO at slightly higher temperatures (above 600ºC, where C is oxidized). This work is in several of those papers, published around 1992-1994. Should you need any of them, please let me know.
