I came across a multiple choice question which was set as follows:
"A man with an autosomal dominant hereditary disease (50% net probability for transmission) has 4 children which are two pairs of monozygotic twins. He wants to know the risk for his children to have the disease."
Which statement is correct?
A) No child has the disease. B) One child has the disease. C) Two children have the disease. D) Three children have the disease. E) All four children have the disease.
From my understanding of statistics and probability all statements are incorrect since the probability can't be applied to a single case in the form of an "is"-statement.
Can anybody tell me whether I'm just mislead in my thoughts? In any case could somebody give me a hint to the specific theory that deals with this so I can read it up myself?
