I want to work with a open source code software which is written in Fortan 77 code. For that the GNU Fortan G77 compiler is required. I have never used this compiler. Is it possible to install it in a Windows 10 computer? I have heard GNU Fortran G77 is a freeware.Can someone give me a link to download it?
Simple answer, yes. You can also have a bash terminal for windows and run it with a command line, together with Vim, or your favorite editor. Why not simply install it as a tool in Visual Studio Code, and then make use of Intellisense for syntax highlighting and other tools? These environments are free and are also heavily supported.

to install GNU Fortan G77 compiler on Windows, a good solution would be to do it with Cygwin.
However, with Windows 10, I would prefer to use Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), which allows to install a complete Linux environment shell (Ubuntu) and install all package you need, like a real Linux native machine.

They are actually two versions, but I would suggest you to install WSL2 which provides better performances and integration in Windows 10.
