I am interested in studying how human brain reacts to foreign language w/o mistakes. I have read some studies confirming EPOC+ to be somehow helpful. For certain reason, I have no access to software EPOC+ works with. Is there any way to get around? I have browsed openVibe/openBCI formus, where certain people claim it is possible while others contradict them...

To some extent it depends on the model of headset you are using. See: https://github.com/openyou/emokit for older equipment. See also the projects https://github.com/EmokitAlife/EmokitVisualizer and https://github.com/xribene/Emokit_Epoc_GUI which are more current--those developers may be able to give you some guidance in accessing EPOC systems.
However, the company Emotiv is very much against allowing people to directly access their hardware, so the best advice is to move to other equipment as soon as you can. (Sorry!)

thx for your answer. My department still fights for obtaining their SW, but in the case tey are not succesfull, I am looking for a back up plan.
Consider OpenBCI, every aspect is open source: hardware, software, communications protocols, etc.

thank you for your answer mr. Croft. I was hoping openBCI sw would be usable through epoc hw, but my friend specialising in TI told me recently that is not an option anymore. I might really need to go for whole openBCI solution
I highly recommend this Python library, it allows you to view eeg data on web browser and log the data to excel file, I use it all the time:

Now as I have the access to emotivePRO and its raw EEG, I face the problem of sending the signal from OpenSesame to emotivePRO raw eeg in order to mark the input events. virtual serial port seems to be functional and it connects, but no markers are seen in raw eeg This is the script that runs in OpenSesame:

I am able to acquire the raw sensor data using the EPOC+ headset through the Emokit SDK. Is there a difference between the raw EEG signal acquired using the Emotiv PRO software and the so-called raw sensor data? If yes, is there a way to convert this data to the EEG signal?
My master student bought cheap Bluetooth EEG headset from amazon and its work very well. It track your brain activity, heart rate, breathing, and body movements and review the raw data, His project use the EEG signal to move the wheelchair with arduino . You can check this link

I've worked with the Emotiv insight. Its not a very good device at all. Try the MUSE 2 or MUSE S. The connectivity is better, and you can use the 15$ app called Mind Monitor which gives you raw data, heat map, gyroscope data, wave band data, and you can export to CSV files. I've even created an interpretive program for my own purposes in excel. The Emotiv products are not useful for anything, in my opinion given the poor connectivity and limited software.
