mylonite is a thin foliated metamorphic rock. It is formed by ductile deformation due intense shearing stress and high temperature. Plastic flow is mostly associated with type of deformation. Based on the geologic record of some facies analysis, quartz and calcareous mylonite may exist in the faulted carbonate rocks. For example, Cambrian carbonates including limestone and dolostone that are subjected to later deformation processes including folding and faulting have mylonite along the faulted areas.
