Four wheel steering would be helpful in taking turns on narrow roads and difficult to turn paths due to path damage etc. For a steering system, it's steering efforts, and its ability's to adopt right turning radius is important to enable, a comfortable turn of the vehicle. But is it practically possible in the present time vehicles?

The package usually does not allow for big angles at the rear axle. Usually just 3 degrees turning angle are used at the rear axle to reduce the turning radius by 1m. For trucks the rear axle is steered in order reduce the wear of the rear tyres.
anything is possible, but you must realise that steering with the rear following in a circle movement asks much more on developing stability. starting and ending the circle turn will be an instable moment. so electronic guidance and stiff stabilisation is needed.
Virtually anything is possible. But considering the efforts to introduce steering elements on the driving axle, recent developments were more about increasing the maximum steering angle of the front axle: the max. front axle steering angle of current trucks is next to "incredible".
There are various types of axle steering applications for different duties of trucks and the needs of drivers. One of the interesting ones are self-steering pusher axles designed with high caster moment arm, supported wheel ends by lateral dampers and steered by cornering force. They do not have any mechanical connection to the vehicle steering mechanism. Due to the caster moment arm this type of axles must be pushed up automatically when the driver shifts to the reverse gear. They are generally applied to 8x2 haulage\tipper trucks and trailers.
