How do we convert a qualitative interview to a quantitative format say on a scale of -5 to +5? Is it possible ? I would be immensely grateful if somebody can comment on this.
My research was quantitative and I utilized SPSS to analyze my data. However, the tools I used gave guidelines on what I needed to do to analyze my data and for the type of study I was conducting quantitative was the best method. I googled your question “Yes, it is possible to convert qualitative data (text) into a quantitative format by using a process called "coding," where themes or categories are identified within the text and then counted to produce numerical data”.

Oui, il est bien possible de quantifier les données qualitatives. Pour ce faire, on peut chercher à connaître la récurrence d'un mot ou d'un concept par rapport à une situation donnée. Le logiciel Nvivo sert à faire ce travail .
In mixed methods research, this is known as an exploratory sequential design, where the initial qualitative results serve as the basis for a larger quantitative study, such as a survey. The classic analytic approach is to generate a series of themes, which become the basis for your questionnaire items.
This design is covered in some detail in Creswell and Plano-Clark, Designing and Conducting Mixed Methods Research (3rd ed.).
