We attempt to make a research to explore prosodic features of verbal irony read by Chinese EFL learners. We want to figure out:
1. the prosodic features of verbal irony read by Chinese learners;
2. the difference of prosodic features in verbal irony read by Chinese learners and native speakers;
3. whether context (high and low) influence the reading of verbal irony.
Construct simple context dialogue for second language learner. Dialogue should be categorised on the basis of learner's previous knowldge of the target language. The learner should find the conetext comfortable.
The context is essential to interpret irony. The context shoul be precise, exact, no matter if ts is high or low. I recommend you the following articles (that you already know all possible):
