I need to resolve the discrepancies in the pitch measurement from these two methods as from wedge cell measurements (distance between the grandjean lines) I determined the value around 12 micrometres and from POM (fingerprint texture of cholesteric phase under homeotropic anchoring conditions where the pitch can be determined as twice the distance between two dark lines ) is arounf 64 micrometers. It's normal to see some differences in measurements taken using different methods. In your case, it looks like the pitch measurements you got from your wedge cell measurements and your POM measurements are pretty far apart.
One reason for this could be that the liquid crystal was anchored differently in the two measurements. Wedge cell measurements measure the pitch in a planar anchoring condition, while POM measurements measure it in a homeotropic anchoring condition and these conditions can lead to different results.
