For my project, children aged 3-5 watch an episode with a moral lesson (about fair sharing) and a different episode with a math lesson (about how to use a pan balance). I would like to compare their learning from the moral lesson to their learning from the math lesson.

A little more detail about the measure: Children are asked to apply what they learned from the episode to pictures of similar scenarios. They can be right (scored as 1) or wrong (scored as wrong).

  • For the moral lesson, children answer whether or not the picture shows fair sharing. There are 2 trials, so the range of scores goes from 0 (all incorrect) to 2 (all correct).
  • For the math lesson, the children answer which side is heavier on the pan balance. There are 3 trials, so the range of scores goes from 0 (all incorrect) to 3 (all correct).

Is there a good way to compare their total learning scores across these two lesson types?

I'm attaching pictures that show the histogram of these two variables.

Thanks so much!
