Hello I am doing a Schiff-base reaction between an aldehyde and amine. This reaction has been reported in literature in liquid phase and it takes about 72 hours. But when I use a solid-vapour interface, where I grow aldehyde on a solid substrate and then react it with the vapors of amine, the reaction is completed in 9 hours instead. Can anyone suggest me any paper or book where I can find such relevant information to prove that the reaction should happen faster in vapors than liquid state. Thanks

preparation of Schiff-base from reaction between an aldehyde and amine, is well known and can be done in alcohol solution, to increase rate of reaction ( reduce time of reaction) can be done through increasing reaction temperature.

You need to follow change in concentration of reactant with time using spectroscopy or chromatography methods, then you will plot graphs according to integrated forms of rate equation , (look for text book of kinetic or physical chemistry chapter of kinetics)..
