Some recent analytical techniques, including energy balance method, max-min method, and so on, work well for single degree of freedom conservative oscillators. Is it possible to extend them to the more complicated problem of multi- degrees of freedom oscillators (for example double pendulum for small oscillations)?

Is not a simple question. I know about Hamiltonian and Lagrangian mechanics. I have a PhD in Theoretical Mechanics. It is about Ji - Huan He , a chinese mathematicien, with a lot of contributions in the last decade, including Energy balance method, Max - Mix approach and, very important, Homotopy perturbation method (and some others). So, my question is still valid.
