Specifically, can qualitative approach (interview/ case study) be used concurrently to compare results obtained from quantitative study (survey), with mediating or moderating variable? If it is possible, can the same framework and hypotheses used for quantitative testing applicable for qualitative approach as well? Any constructive feedback is highly appreciated..Thank You
The most common approach to this set of issues would not be a convergent (triangulation) design, but instead an explanatory sequential design. This would proceed in two stages, where the first would be to determine the results of the quantitative study, followed a qualitative study to help understand and interpret those quantitative results.
In this case, there is nothing special about having a mediating or moderating variable, because this kind of design can be used with any kind of quantitative analysis.

The relevance of utilising triangulation / mixed methods approach in research is to improve the scope for validating outcomes and their reliability in interpreting results. I suppose, the best way forward in research is a blend of qualitative and quantitative mix designs, which invariably will complement the quality of the overall outcome of the research in perspective.
In ideal world, qualitative should match quantitative, however, quantitative is based on science while qualitative is subjective based on personal opinion supported by experience and knowledge. Therefore, the qualitative sample should be carefully selected in order to have reliable results.
