Yes I believe it is necessary for us to transition away from waterfall practices because as the company develop the mobile applications, the user requirements can change continuously. so if they use waterfall method they can't change the previous requirements. So as my opinion it is better to transition away from waterfall and use agile model because by using that model we can continuously interact with the users.

According to my personal point of view, I believe that mobile application development is not an easy task. It requires a lot of planning and work. Waterfall model is normally used for sequential development by identifying the requirements beforehand, if errors occur we cannot return back and correct it. Developers only can move forward. For something as crucial as, mobile application development which is prone to errors and requirements in the middle of the development process. Therefore, it is best to transition away from waterfall model and focus on another model such as agile or scrum where we can focus more on risk analysis etc.

In my opinion framing ourselves to a single development method is not the best way to proceed on with a software development. The development method may vary according to the client, the complexity and the type of software we develop.

Waterfall method goes really good with elongated and more complex projects and software due to its sequential development. But we have to face up with trouble when doing alterations.
