Searching, discovering and communicating the truth has been always, and continues to be, the work of university professors and students. But, do we need new methods to achieve it?
Students' lifestyle is changing rapidly, and their needs and interests are also changing. ICT is also invading our lives as it facilitates our lives and supports us to accomplish duties and tasks easily. Good teachers should be updated and know the best practices to meet their students' interests and needs, take advantage of development, and look for aids to support lifelong learning.
I am open and interesting in experiences with new styles of academic teaching and learnong. On the other side, I am sceptical that there should come revolutionary things, also in the age of e-learning. Learning and acquisition of knowledge is very traditional and wokrs very well. What should be better, even if you distinguish some types of preferences the channels of senses or some special conditions of learning environment.
I have to add a remark because there was said the life style of students have changed. Here I am in particular sceptical, such changes, as far as I know are not improve conditions or results of learning - quite the opposite is right. But who is really interested in science and academic life leads a very normal and modest life - interesting first in getingt knowledge and improving the own education.
If you, and your students and their future employers, are perfectly happy with the course in present version - perhaps you can keep it as such.
But what about the students that cannot attend your course because of place, time, social conditions, etc . but would be able to participate if you used other ways of teaching? And what about cost and effectiveness? These questions must always be alive, and new technologies mean more possibilities.
