Engineering has developed into many multidisciplinary streams. Degrees acquired in the Sciences and Applied  Mathematics field, especially at the post graduate level have become necessary and vital to enhance Engineering teaching and theory. The information.control, digital and computer sciences , image processing,AI ,various sensors and semiconductors fields etc  rely heavily on knowledge in these disciplines. It is interesting to know the views on this topic from the tenure/promotion/recognition angles, that is  the basic degree should not be a concern. Yet there seem to be many archaic rules in various universities preventing knowledge growth. So should not this be made part of international mandatory requirements for approvals of universities , then we can have a truly wide ranging rich faculty for engineering advancement.
