I have searched on the internet and read different pages with different views. If I want to summarize my investigations I can say that:
Number of scientific papers which an applicant is the first author or corresponding author is very important for applying for an academic job such as a research fellow or faculty position.
Which of them is better? first author or corresponding author?
Please let me know about your experiences in your institutions.

Yes. Order of authors is very important. First author gets 60℅ contribution and second author 40 ℅ in case, where a paper has two authors. If multiple author exist.. Then contribution as well as rewards divided as per university norms like 60-40-20-10..or in similar pattern accordingly.
It depends on the field in which the paper is published and the country of the authors. In some fields/countries the last author is considered the primary contributor.... doesn't make sense to me, but it exists.
Is it important the order of authors on scientific papers to apply for academic jobs? Definitely yes.

In my country, the first author weight factor is 60% and 40% divided for all others.
Lab directors often appear at the end of the list. Sometimes the laboratory is named after such a famous scientist, who had nothing to do with the actual work. But there he or she is, on the paper. It is better to be first author.
