Like in many paper researchers have claimed that cancer cell lines have cancer stem cell properties. However, cancer cell line is a clonal population of cells then how has it acquired stem cell properties or heterogeneous population?

Yeah you are right in your side but they may have capabilities to give rise into both types of luminal as well as basal like progenitors or their bipotent BCSCs. In fact Cancer stem cell arises by clonal evolution as a result of selection for the cell with the highest fitness in the neoplasm.
