I wonder if it is appropiate to run time-frequency analysis such as a Fast Fourier transform on human EEG data (recorded at the scalp) from a experimental paradigm where visual flashes were presented one every 500 ms (so the analysis epoch would be that 500 ms). I have some doubts due to temporal smoothing of the signal after analysis, stationary assumptions of the FFT, and the size of the time window for the analysis.
