I just have found that one of the leading journals, published by a leading publisher, with a new editor from a specific country has published about 240 papers in this year 2018, 205 of these papers authored by our fellow researchers, who are the citizens of the same country of the Editor, and only 35 papers authored by our fellow researchers from the rest of the world!
In my opinion, such a practice harm science and demolish the trust of the journal and the publisher as well. What do you think?
And how can we raise this matter to stop such a twisted unfair behavior of some tiny number of editors?

I know what you mean and even see that some articles with no innovation and even qualification have been chosen by editor as he know the writer and according to friendship or ......, I think it is not fair!
But as my dear colleagues mentioned if optimistically they deserve no problem!
If it was a valuable novel research with high quality and significance so no problem. But if the articles are of low grade and significance so tell the publisher.
I partly agree with Fathy. In such cases publishers might not take any action. If papers are of substandard quality one can publish papers criticising the works and, if possible, somehow raise the issue.
Dear Fathy, I found some papers with many typos and language issues, among other issues such as misconducting or describing experiments , in terms of reproducibility, i.e. not that high quality research for some papers that I read , we need to read all papers to get a significant conclusion. However, finding one paper is enough for this argument, and 85.4% from the same country is statistically significant and can tell other things rather than being of high quality.
If the journal calls itself as an international one, this practice of publishing majority of papers from own's country needs a relook.
Scientific dissemination requires crossing the narrow boundaries !!

I understand your concern. Paper quality might not be too bad but getting preference in publication over others repeatedly.

It is an international journal, published by A very large and leading publisher.
Editor must be fair to everyone with no personal interest from any authors.
This is a real concern. Many weak and poor works are being accepted in such a way. I think there are many more dangerous acts like accomplice Editor. Sometimes, the editor publish his own non scientifically sound paper to promote.
This is really deleterious of the journal and the publisher.

You are correct. Editors not only do favoritism by accepting for publishing but also collaborate as co author and get publication without any significant contribution and producing good number of publications using their editorial- reviewer networking even in top ranked Journals. Fortunately ordinary author(s) in-spite of having significant contribution in their manuscript failed to get publish their own work. As i too experienced the same kind of publishing experience.

@Jefferson, No way to abolish such a practice. It is really discouraging in some cases. A hard working researcher spend nights in performing experiments, analysing data and shaping his draft while another accomplice author publish a low quality paper within few weeks due to his "friendship" with the editor.
